Following a second, brief Appreciative Interview, participants again formed small working groups to identify the key themes emerging from their dreams for an AI community in Australia:

  • A village – structural and permeable, learning for leaders
  • Active, energetic
  • Appreciate many ways
  • Build critical mass – infuse AI in everything; accessible
  • Catalyst and facilitating agent for generative leadership and succession change
  • Check the egos in at the door!
  • Connection
  • Diverse and inclusive
  • Ego-less brand and identity
  • Engaging online, face to face, e-journal, e-list
  • Face to face and virtual
  • Flexibility (how to engage, how much to contribute)
  • Framework free of anxiety
  • Generosity: financial, knowledge & learning, pro-bono (work to support others)
  • Inclusive and collaborative
  • Inspiration and openness
  • Model AI philosophy in the community e.g. open doors for people, mentoring, embrace diversity
  • Peace and sustainability
  • Physical and virtual
  • Practitioners embody unconditional respect, empathic, emergent list
  • Pull, not push
  • Recognise capabilities
  • Safe place for diverse thinking and ways of knowing
  • Simple and sustainable
  • Structure supporting purpose (legal accountability structure if handling $$s)
  • Structure/Flexibility (balanced)
  • Valuing people
  • Visible specialist centre
  • We should be exploring as an AI community: venue/event; web group and face to face; ‘voice’ of an Australian group
  • Welcoming of all points of view and all experiences
  • ? the world! Adversarial –> constructive (Schools!)
